From Archbishop Hamilton’s charter in 1552 recognising the right of the people of St Andrews to play golf on the Links to Seve Ballesteros’ famous Open Championship victory on the Old Course in 1984, delve into the truly unique history at the Home of Golf.
Broughty Ferry is a residential suburb on the River Tay estuary, known for 15th-century Broughty Castle, with waterfront views and local history exhibits in its on-site museum. Global and Scottish eateries, cosy cafes, and fish ’n’ chip takeaways cluster nearby, while indie shops sell clothing and gifts. Near a riverside beach, Broughty Ferry Nature Reserve has tree-lined paths and is home to toads and tawny owls.
